Baked Brie with Jam is a delightful appetizer that combines the creamy richness of Brie cheese with the sweetness of your favorite jam, all enveloped in flaky pastry. Perfect for gatherings or cozy nights in, this dish is sure to impress your guests. Here’s how to make it!
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 1 wheel of Brie cheese
- 1/2 cup of your favorite jam (such as raspberry or apricot)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Flour (for dusting)
Method
- Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, mix flour and a pinch of salt. Cut very cold butter into small cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Using your hands or a knife, work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Form the Dough: Gradually add 1 tablespoon of cold water at a time, stirring with a wooden spoon until the dough begins to come together. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead gently until smooth.
- Roll and Fold: Roll the dough into a rectangle, then fold the edges in as if making an envelope. Roll it out again into a rectangle and repeat this process three more times. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Roll out the chilled dough into a square about 1/4 inch thick.
- Wrap the Brie: Place the Brie in the center of the dough. Spread the jam on top of the cheese. Fold the edges of the dough over the Brie, sealing it completely.
- Bake: Brush the dough with a beaten egg for a golden finish. Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
- Serve: Let it cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with extra jam if desired, and enjoy!
This baked Brie with jam is not only easy to prepare but also a crowd-pleaser that adds a touch of elegance to any occasion!
