Beef stew is a comforting, hearty dish perfect for cold days or when you crave something filling. This recipe combines tender beef, rich broth, and a variety of vegetables, creating a flavorful and satisfying meal that can be enjoyed with friends and family.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef brisket
  • Sunflower oil, to taste
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 onion
  • 40 g garlic (about 4 cloves)
  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 200 g white cabbage
  • 200 g Chinese cabbage
  • Tomato paste, to taste
  • Salt, to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste

Method

  1. Rinse the beef and cut it into medium-sized chunks.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot or pan and brown the beef on all sides until a nice crust forms. Then, add boiling water to cover the meat, bring to a boil, and let it simmer, covered, for 2 hours.
  3. Wash and peel the carrots, cutting them into 6 pieces. Peel and slice the onion into half-rings. Peel the garlic and chop it coarsely.
  4. Peel and wash the potatoes, then cut them into large chunks.
  5. Rinse both the white cabbage and Chinese cabbage, then chop them into 2.5 cm pieces.
  6. In the same pan, heat a bit more oil and sauté the potatoes for about 3 minutes, then transfer them to a plate.
  7. Sauté the onion and garlic in the pot for 2 minutes, adding oil if necessary.
  8. Remove the beef from the broth and add it to the onions and garlic. Cook for 3 minutes over medium heat. Add the tomato paste, bring to a boil, and simmer for 5 minutes.
  9. Bring the meat broth back to a boil, add the carrots and potatoes, and cook for 10 minutes.
  10. Combine the broth, vegetables, and beef, bringing the mixture to a boil. Add the white cabbage and cook for another 5 minutes, then add the Chinese cabbage. Stir everything together, remove from heat, and let it sit for 2-3 minutes before serving.
