Cheese garlic bread is the ultimate comfort food, combining a soft, fluffy interior with a crispy, cheesy crust. This pull-apart bread is perfect for sharing with family or friends, and the combination of garlic, melted cheese, and fresh green onions makes it absolutely irresistible.
Ingredients
- 300g flour
- 200ml water
- 5g dry yeast (or 15g fresh)
- 9g salt
- 100g mozzarella, grated
- 80g cheddar, grated
- 40g gouda or other cheese, grated
- 30g parmesan, finely grated
- 70g butter, melted
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 3-4 green onions, chopped
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- A pinch of salt
Method
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and yeast. Add the water and lightly mix until the yeast is activated. After 10 minutes, add the salt and knead the dough for about 10 minutes until soft and slightly sticky. Cover and let the dough rise for about 1 hour.
- While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt. Grate all the cheeses and chop the green onions.
- Once the dough has risen, preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Roll out the dough and make deep cuts across the top, without slicing all the way through. Spread the garlic butter over the dough, making sure it gets into the cuts.
- Stuff the grated cheese and chopped onions into the slits. Place the bread in a greased loaf pan or on a baking tray.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
