Recipe Cobb Salad

by admin

Cobb Salad is a classic American dish that originated in the 1930s at the Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant. Known for its hearty combination of ingredients, this salad features chicken, bacon, avocado, and a variety of greens, all drizzled with a flavorful dressing. It’s a delicious meal that’s both satisfying and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • ½ head iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1 small bunch green onions, chopped
  • ½ head romaine lettuce, chopped
  • ½ bunch watercress, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
  • 6 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 small head frisée lettuce, chopped
  • 2 chicken breasts, cooked and cubed
  • 2 avocados, sliced

For the dressing:

  • 125 g blue cheese (preferably Roquefort), crumbled
  • 100 ml olive oil
  • 40 ml red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Prepare all salad ingredients by washing and chopping the greens. Combine them in a large bowl and toss well.
  2. Cook the bacon in a dry skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, then chop into pieces.
  3. In the same skillet, cook the cubed chicken for about 8 minutes until cooked through.
  4. Slice the avocados in half, remove the pit, and cut into thin strips, drizzling with lemon juice to prevent browning. Chop the tomato and hard-boiled eggs separately.
  5. To make the dressing, whisk together the vinegar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while whisking, then stir in the crumbled blue cheese and sugar.
  6. On a large serving platter, arrange the salad greens and top with rows of chicken, avocado, bacon, tomato, and sprinkle with chopped eggs and green onions. Drizzle with the dressing before serving.

Enjoy your refreshing and hearty Cobb Salad!
