Stuffed mushrooms are a versatile and delicious appetizer that can be filled with a variety of ingredients. Whether you prefer cheese, meat, or vegetables, this dish is perfect for any occasion. The key is to choose fresh mushrooms, season them well, and bake them to perfection.
Ingredients
- 12 medium-sized mushrooms (white or brown)
- 100g cheese (such as feta, parmesan, or gouda)
- 100g cooked bacon or ham (optional)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (like parsley or thyme) for garnish
Method
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Clean the mushrooms and remove the stems, setting the caps aside. Finely chop the stems for the filling.
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and mushroom stems. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- If using bacon or ham, add it to the skillet and stir well. Once everything is cooked, remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- In a bowl, combine the cooked mixture with the cheese. Stir until evenly mixed.
- Stuff each mushroom cap with the filling mixture and place them on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and the cheese is melted.
- Garnish with fresh herbs before serving. Enjoy them warm as a tasty appetizer!
